In the world of gaming there are many things that fill us with uncontrollable squealing schoolgirl like glee. For example earning the highscore in a game that has been under ownership for the past three years, but for some reason there is over two decades of calculated hours logged into it. Another Justin Beamer CD is to be able to frag the leader of a team just seems to be controlling the leaderboards with a Boomstick of uncontrollable fury, but there is nothing that makes us fall to our knees because it seems as if we are in a beautiful dream that should never be allowed to end like the sandman known as E-3(electronic entertainment expo), during this event gamers, families, and everyone that is privilege to watch or attend are introduced to new games, gaming systems, and ways to game the future is laid out in front of us. So enjoy yourself as we present to you everything that you missed, furthermore comment give your voice because everyone is listening.
Some of us here at Three Guys, just don’t know how to feel about this. Cole, if this is in fact Cole, looks totally different from his first adventure. Hell, he even looks…dare we say it, younger than his former self and a little more agile. Oh yeah, how about these ice powers???
So if anyone is unfamiliar with Infamous or its characters, here’s a quick runthrough from its entry on Wikipedia…
Infamous is an open world video game for the PlayStation 3 video game console. It was developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was released internationally in May and June 2009. In Infamous, the player controls the protagonist Cole MacGrath, a bike messenger caught in the epicenter of an explosion that devastates several city blocks of the fictional Empire City. The explosion sends the city into chaos while Cole finds himself with new electricity-based super powers. Though the game’s story follows Cole using his new abilities to restore some semblance of order to Empire City, the player is given several opportunities to use these powers for good or evil purposes in the game’s Karma system. These choices ultimately affect character growth, the reaction of the City’s populace towards Cole, and finer elements of the story.
The protagonist is Cole McGrath, a bike courier for Empire City who happens to be in the center of the explosion, surviving it and gaining electricity-based super powers. His best friend is a fellow courier named Zeke, who takes initial refuge from the chaos on the streets at a rooftop pad and becomes both impressed and envious of Cole’s newfound powers. Trish is a medical student and Cole’s girlfriend at the start of the game, but rejects him after accusing him of causing her sister’s death. Shortly after the explosion, Cole meets with FBI agent Moya, who assigns him missions to complete in Empire City in hopes of finding an agent named John. John was trapped in the city while investigating a case for another agency when the quarantine was enacted and has left numerous encoded messages on satellite receivers. A rogue DJ, “The Voice of Survival”, manages to broadcast his conspiracy-laden, panic-provoking messages across the city from a TV station.
As Cole explores the city, he comes across three others with super powers like himself. Sasha is a scorned lover, trying to earn Cole’s romance, and has the ability to use a tar-like plague-inducing substance to control the minds of others. She controls the Reaper gang of the Neon District. Alden is a wizened old man with powerful telekinesis abilities that leads the Dustman gang in the Warren District under his control. Alden and his forces fight the First Sons, an ancient fraternal organization that works out of the Historical District. Kessler, a man with many super powers, controls the First Sons, using them to seek out Cole and the Ray Sphere, the device that caused the explosion in Empire City.
As you can see from the pic of him in the cover Cole has more hair than previously in the sequal. Also notice in the trailer that Cole now has a sword, though it seemed to me that he was doing perfectly fine without one. Now that I think about it Cole did have a sword though it was only available through PSN, it is known as the “Gigawat Blades”
Infamous is a fun game if you like the action adventure type, I played it after finishing Batman:Arkam Asylum. There are some glitches, for example when enemies are stuck midway in a wall, but what games doesn’t have these. The only thing though is that if you’ve seen a ‘Karma’ system once then you’ve seen it hundreds of times.
We are the Three Guys. At the moment we are only a team of three, a guy with a Playstation 3, a guy with an X-box 360, and a guy with a Nintendo Wii. In the months to come we hope to be more than this and provide to you critiqued reviews of video games by ourselves and hopefully others who are crazy enough to pull this off with us.
SO, to start off things will be slow. Two of us are college students while the other is finishing up high school and making weird videos. To compensate for this we thought it would be cool to showcase some of this years highly anticipated video game trailers from E3 2010. With a little opinion subtitle, so strap yourselves in ‘vidgame’ fans this is going to be a bumpy ride.
